We’re into the second set of group stage games at UEFA Euro 2024, and it’s safe to say that this tournament is already exceeding expectations. We’ve seen incredible moments take place across the last week or so and as we look ahead to the immediate future, it feels like more of the same is on the way. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming clash between Poland and Austria.
Poland Form GuideFor years now, it’s felt as if the Poland national team has been going through a golden generation and a half - or, at least, that’s what we’ve been told. Despite that, they’ve never really been able to live up to their potential on the world stage. The Poles are one of the most interesting countries to watch when firing on all cylinders, but inconsistency is a big issue for them.
Poland and Netherlands went toe to toe in what proved to be yet another fun game at these European Championships. The Poles took the lead after just 16 minutes but when the Dutch started to get going, the match really began to turn, with the boys in orange taking home a 2-1 win.
Austria Form GuideThey’ve always been a dangerous kind of opponent, but Austria haven’t quite been able to get over the hump and become a consistent force. The likes of David Alaba have always pushed hard for them to get to that next level but for now, they’re just a ‘middle of the road’ team in Europe, always striving to prove they can get out of the shadow of some of their neighbours.
Austria and France battled it out in a really competitive affair to kickstart their respective runs and, in the end, it was an unfortunate own goal that sealed the deal in a 1-0 win for France. With that being said, the Austrians pushed them all the way to the wire which they can take great pride in.
Match PredictionBoth of these teams have a lot to fight for at this point in the campaign and given the quality they have on offer in the final third, we’d expect to see a lot of exciting football here. It may be tentative at points but in terms of an official prediction, we’re still going to shoot for over 2.5 goals scored.
