For most teams, just six games remain in the Serie A season and there is still plenty to play for. The next round of games is this weekend, kicking off on Friday night with two matches. Here we preview the first of those, where Genoa host Lazio, the home side have little to play for while the away team come here looking to climb into the top six.
Genoa Form GuideWhile Genoa have nothing to really play for, they could sneak into the top half with a good finish to the season, and remain in half decent form. They begin the weekend in 12th place, five points off 10th placed Fiorentina, the first spot inside the top half that they are chasing down.
They come into this game on the back of a four game unbeaten run, but there is a small asterisk at the side of that. the reason being that they've drawn three of those, and only won once. The win was a 2-1 away success at Verona while they've drawn with Fiorentina and Juventus away from home and Frosinone at home.
Lazio Form GuideI think Lazio will still be eyeing up a top six spot, and have six games left to try and clinch it. They begin this weekend two points behind Atalanta who are ahead of them. But Lazio are in good form, they have claimed nine points from their last four games, which is second best in the entire league recently, only behind 2nd placed AC Milan.
They've won three of four, and come here on the back of a win, which was a comfortable 4-1 home success over Salernitana last weekend. They've also beaten Frosinone and Juventus in this period in the league, while the loss they suffered was a 1-0 defeat away at rivals Roma at the start of this month.
Match PredictionI think this will be a fairly close game, but I am giving the edge to Lazio. They have a little more to play for, and have been in good form recently, something I fancy them to continue here.
