It's a week of international friendlies now that many domestic leagues around Europe have come to an end, and on Tuesday evening, Slovenia host Armenia in one off those friendly games, the first of two games this week for these two nations.
Slovenia Form GuideSlovenia will be at Euro 2024, but are one of the big outsiders, and have little or no expectations on their shoulders. But in small parts, they've put together some nice results, and have the ability to shock teams. Ahead of Euro 2024, they have two friendlies, beginning with this one, where they are expected to win, and that would certainly boost morale at just the right time if they do.
Talking of good results, and their last one certainly was that, a 2-0 success over Portugal in March. They've also beaten the USA and Finland within the last eight months, so on their day, Slovenia can certainly cause problems for other teams. They won't be favourites for any game at Euro 2024, but are this week, and need to make that count.
Armenia Form GuideArmenia are not heading to Euro 2024, so will be using the two games this week as experimental games, where they can try new things. They come here on the back of a run where they've failed to win any of the last eight, and have lost their last three, so do need a result to turn things around. But they are coming up against a team with a lot more to play for on Tuesday in this one.
In their last game, Armenia lost 2-1 to Czech Republic, before that, 1-0 losses to Kosovo and Croatia. So they've not been getting beaten by a lot, and holding Croatia to a 1-0 loss is good, but ultimately, they've seen three games go by, losing them all and on top of that, only managing to score one goal in them.
Match PredictionI think Slovenia are good value for the win here, and they are my pick. They've got nothing to lose heading into Euro 2024, but will be expected to win twice this week, and against a struggling Armenia, I am backing them to win the first of those games.
